Country folks are proud of their heritage, and they have long memories. Probably no one alive today in any condition to maintain a grave site knew Andrew, but someone purchased a new headstone and placed a flag.
The mysterious marauder. Two of the four cemeteries we visited had populations of gopher tortoises, apparently relocated there to protect the cattle in the surrounding pastures from stumbling into their burrows. They seemed to be doing just fine. Wonder how the settlers would feel about sharing with their former stew ingredients.
